Why Attend?

Gain a deeper understanding on the trends in pasture and crop harvested, and how forages and crops can impact your farm business now and in the future. Explore viable options to help set your farm up for success.

Join us on-farm with North Taranaki farmer Jacob Prankerd who will share how he uses different forage and harvest crops, and how you can use summer cropping in your system to optimise financial gain.

DairyNZ Economist Ben Marmont will share an analysis of the DairyBase data to show how the use of crops can financially benefit a system.

Farm owners, sharemilkers and contract milkers are encouraged to attend this event, tailored to Northern and Central Taranaki farmers.

The event will cover:

  • Analysis of pasture harvested and the use of crops to fill feed gaps
  • Cost benefit analysis of turnip vs chicory crops, exploring how a turnip crop could benefit youngstock, and the value of maize in a future fit system.
  • The financial impact these summer crops, including maize, can have on your business.

Lunch courtesy of Pioneer.
