Why Attend?

Understand the factors that cause a lift in reproductive performance and investigate how to build on gains made to increase future reproductive performance using the experience of a local high performing farmer, and DairyNZ experts.

Hear from a panel of experts including local farmer Logan McKenzie who will explore last season’s farm data, including 6 week in calf rates, to identify opportunities for strengthening and maintaining reproductive performance. Learn what the financial benefits of increasing gains on your own farm could be, tips for assessing reproductive performance and the impact on the broader farm system.

The panel will also include DairyNZ senior scientist Susanne Meier who will share some of the research behind increasing reproductive performance.

Find out more about:

  • How to assess your herd reproductive performance and the financial impact of making improvements
  • Identify opportunities to lift your 6 week in calf rate and lower your empty rate on your farm
  • Hear from Logan McKenzie about how his farm team has achieved a 6 week in calf rate of 76% across the past two seasons on average and a final empty rate of 9% from a 10 week mating across their 1000 cow herd, with no CIDR’s, metrichecking, or cow wearables.

Farm owners, sharemilkers, contract milkers and managers are encouraged to attend this event, tailored to Southland farmers.
