Why Attend?

Understand the factors that impact reproductive performance and explore how to build on gains made to increase future reproductive performance using the experience from a local high performing farm and DairyNZ experts.

Hear from North Otago farmers Karl and Emma Guy whose high performing herd is in the top 3%, and local vet and in calf advisor Mat O’Sullivan who will explore in more detail last season’s regional results and some of the key drivers for why there was an increase in performance. Learn what the financial benefits of increasing gains on your own farm could be, tips for assessing reproductive performance and the impact on the broader farm system.

The day will also include DairyNZ senior scientist Susanne Meier and DairyNZ farm systems expert Mark Speight who will share some of the research behind increasing reproductive performance.

Find out more about:

  • How Karl and Emma Guy achieve an 80% 6-week in-calf rate and 8% not in-calf rate with 10 week mating periods and no wearables
  • How improving herd and reproductive performance has helped increase the options for other revenue streams

Farm owners, sharemilkers, contract milkers and managers are encouraged to attend this event, tailored to North Otago farmers.
