Leah Prankerd
Senior Area Manager - North Taranaki
Senior Area Manager
In guiding her team as they work alongside farmers to get them the support they need, Leah also makes sure she doesn’t miss out on the ‘on the ground’ work either.
“I support farmers along their farming journey and work alongside rural professionals (RPs) to help farmers reach their goals. Farmers play an integral part of who we are as New Zealand. As a farmer myself, I know we live and breathe it every day, so let’s progress a positive future together.
“My work includes working directly with farmers, and liaising with RPs, to ensure we’re offering farmers the best service. The regional team also set ups partnered and supported events/workshops, where farmers can pick the minds of others and connect with DairyNZ’s people and other specialists in their field.”
It’s the farmers themselves though, that really spark Leah’s passion.
“They’re great at what they do, so I want to keep that momentum going, so they can remain future-fit. I’m also extremely enthusiastic about DairyBase, DairyNZ’s powerhouse of farmer-contributed data, and how it can benefit farmers and the sector.”
Leah used to work at ASB in New Plymouth as a rural account manager, so she’s seen things from both sides of the money fence. She’s also currently involved in the Rural Support Trust, NZDIA (New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards) and BFEA (Ballance Farm Environmental Awards).
“My main message to farmers is, don’t be afraid to reach out to our regional team members. We’re only a call away. I’d also encourage them to join DairyBase – it’s free and it’ll benefit farmers’ businesses and help DairyNZ in its advocacy work for them.”
